The Console app won’t launch. What can I do?

If you're having trouble launching the SlingStudio Console app, take a look here.

If the SlingStudio Console app ...

  • Won't launch on your iPad or Mac;
  • Crashes (quits) when you try to launch it;
  • Displays an error message when you try to launch it …

… we're sorry that you're having the trouble! Let's try a few things to see if they help:

  1. Check the hotspot: Is the iPad or Mac that is running the SlingStudio Console app properly connected to the SlingStudio hotspot?
    If not, then connect it to the hotspot and then try launching the SlingStudio Console app again.
  2. Restart the app: Try quitting the SlingStudio Console app and then launching it again.
    For a Mac: Choose Quit from the File menu, then relaunch the app.
    For an iPad: Be sure to quit the Console app properly:
    1. Double-click the iPad's Home button to see recently-used apps.
    2. Swipe right or left to find the Console app.
    3. Swipe the Console app up and away to quit it.
    4. Relaunch the Console app.
  3. Restart your device:
    • iPad: Press and hold the iPad power button until you see the power-off control. Power the iPad off, wait about ten seconds, and then power it back up. Be sure to reconnect the Wi-Fi to the SlingStudio hotspot, and then try to launch the Console app again.
    • Mac: Power down the Mac in the usual way. Wait about ten seconds, and then power the Mac back up. Be sure to reconnect the Wi-Fi to the SlingStudio hotspot, and then try to launch the Console app again.
  4. Restart the SlingStudio: Restart the SlingStudio hub itself:
    1. Press and hold the SlingStudio hub's power button for a few seconds.
    2. Release the power button when the blue LED band blinks quickly. When the LED band goes off, the SlingStudio hub is powered down.
    3. Wait about 10 seconds, and then press the power button to start the SlingStudio hub back up.
    4. Be sure to re-connect your iPad or Mac to the SlingStudio hotspot first, and then try launching the Console app again.
  5. Reinstall the Console app:
    1. iPad: Delete the Console app from your iPad, and then go to the Apple App Store and download/install it again. (Remember: It's free.)
    2. Mac: Delete the Console app from your Mac, and then go to the SlingStudio software downloads page to download/install the latest version.
