The Capture app crashes, or just won't launch. What do I do?

Having trouble with the Capture app? Take a look here.

If the Capture app won't launch, or if it crashes when it launches, try these things:

  • Close and then relaunch the app. Sometimes that's enough to get things going again. Here's how to close the Capture app properly with an iOS device:
    • Double-press the device's Home button.
    • Once you see your open apps stacked like cards, swipe left/right to go to the Capture app. Close the app by swiping upwards to "fling" it away. Then try launching it again.
  • Got an Android smartphone? Check with its documentation, as methods for closing apps vary with Android version.
  • Power cycling: If that doesn't work, then try power-cycling your Capture device. Shut it down, wait ten seconds, and then power it back up again.
  • Close and relaunch: Close and relaunch the Console app, then repeat the close/relaunch process with the Capture app. Here are the steps:
    • Quitting the Console app on an iPad:
      1. At the iPad with the Console app, double-press the device's Home button.
      2. Once you see your open apps stacked like cards, swipe left/right to go to the Console app. Swipe upwards to close it by "flinging" it away. Then try launching it again.
    • Quitting the Console app on a Mac: Choose Quit SlingStudio Console from the SlingStudio Console menu.
    • Quitting the Capture app on an iOS device:
      1. At the device with the Capture app, double-press the device's Home button.
      2. Once you see your open apps stacked like cards, swipe left/right to go to the Capture app. Swipe upwards to close it by "flinging" it away. Then try launching it again.
    • Quitting the Capture app on an Android device: Check with your Android device's documentation.
  • Power cycling: Try power-cycling your SlingStudio device. Press the Power button for about 3 seconds to shut it down. Wait 10 seconds, and then press the Power button again to start the SlingStudio hub back up. Be sure to wait a few seconds after the blue LED top bar stops blinking before you attempt to reconnect to the SlingStudio.
  • Delete the Capture app, reinstall: If none of this gets you any further, delete the Capture app from your device and then reinstall it.
