Renaming a video source

It's easy to rename a video source, such as a CameraLink or smartphone. Here's how.

You can assign whatever name you'd like to the video sources that you use with SlingStudio. This can include:

  • HTML cameras
  • Smartphones used via the SlingStudio Capture app
  • CameraLink devices

And so on.

Here's how to rename video sources whether you're using SlingStudio for iPad or SlingStudio for Mac.

Renaming a video source with SlingStudio for iPad

  1. Launch SlingStudio for iPad.
  2. You can open a project, although you don't have to.
  3. Look to see if the video source that you want to rename is already present in the VIDEO SOURCES column.
    If it is not, then tap the + next to VIDEO SOURCES and then tap the video source to add it.
  4. When you see the video source listed under VIDEO SOURCES, tap the three dots () to the right of its name.
  5. In the popup menu that appears, choose RENAME.
    The RENAME SOURCE dialog box appears.
  6. Rename the video source as you wish, and then tap SAVE.
    You may have to hide the onscreen keyboard first to reveal the SAVE button.
  7. The video source is now renamed. Repeat Steps 4, 5, and 6 for any other video sources that you want to rename.

Renaming a video source with SlingStudio for Mac

  1. Launch SlingStudio for Mac.
  2. You can open a project, although you don't have to.
  3. Look to see if the video source that you want to rename is already present in VIDEO SOURCES.
    If it is not, then click the + in the upper-right corner of the VIDEO SOURCES section, and then click the video source to add it.
  4. When you see the video source listed under VIDEO SOURCES, move your pointer over it to display three white dots (). Click the dots.
  5. In the popup menu that appears, choose RENAME.
    The Rename Peer dialog box appears.
  6. In the Rename Peer dialog box, underneath the text Rename [your video source's name], select the existing video source's name. Then retype the video source name that you would like.
  7. When you are done typing the new video source name, click OK.
  8. The video source is now renamed. Repeat Steps 4, 5, and 6 for any other video sources that you want to rename.
