SlingStudio is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice system, easy to use. I RTMP to my own nginx configured Linux (Fedora) server. My only disappointment is that the console is Apple only. This isn't clear in the documentation and I'd like to see an Android version. Also, would like to see more cameras in the list. I successfully use some nice, reasonably priced Sony (CX405) camcorders, though they DO NOT stream audio over HDMI. Think about adding a studio-quality microphone option for the SlingStudio hub? Hub works fine without the expensive battery, I can get Ethernet<=>USB3.0 connectors for $14 at Fry's or MicroCenter. Nice work, find less expensive options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional video production at a fraction of the I got the sling studio as I’ve seen great things about it. And I’m amateur so I can’t afford tricasters etc but this thing does more than you think for a fraction of the cost. its actually on level par with pro studio equipment and no lugging around box boxes or anything just take it out and turn it on. A minute or two of pre checks and away you go. Honestly it’s a market leader of all categories. I’m in Ireland as well so it works fine as it’s 100-240V input and WiFi standards are universal. Only thing is should release the application world wide but just needed to create US Apple ID

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome product but one major flaw.... I have had the SlingStudio hub sitting in my cupboard since I received it. I was able to test it right after purchase but because one of my 3 cameras is locked to PAL, I am unable to utilize the multicamn features as much as i'd like to. Support for PAL would be a great update which would ensure an improved user experience. There was no information available to let me know about the lack of PAL support so my heavy investment in camera products and accessories for live streaming would possibly have been different should I have known. If a firmware update is possible, it would be great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product, except.... This product has been absolutely amazing! Seriously has a great amount of features that would cost thousands of dollars more to get on any other platform. However, I have one tiny but important critique. On the sling studio’s box that attaches to the camera there is a tiny led light that lets you know that specific box is being broadcast. The problem is that the light is tiny. I’d love to see a larger broadcast light on the other side of the box so that the tiny light can be used for the camera operator while the larger light can be used by the person who is on camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, really easy to use We are really happy with the system. We are a school in northern Thailand. For the past couple of years, we had been trying to find a live streaming solution for our school. With limited budget, we had tried using OBS on a laptop as our controller to control 2 cameras. It worked ok but not that easy to use. I ran across SlingStudio ad online and thought the system was quite good. We bought the system last year for our school events and found out a bit of a surprise. Our PAL cameras won't work with the system. It was my fault for not checking on the requirement carefully. We really want to use the system so we bought two NTSC cameras. Once we got all the components in place, the system works extremely well. It is so easy to set up. One other thing that we had found is that the app streaming time setting does not work for our side of the time zone. We can only use Stream Now option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just when you think it couldn't get any better I think I called their customer support team a dozen times before I finally made the purchasing decision. There weren't too many user reviews on the market so I knew I was taking a leap of faith on it. This product line has been the most reliable set of equipment I use in my production. I've returned, camcorders, expensive encoders, mics, etc...... but these had been my run and gun. And to top it off, the BETA for the computer platform was flawless. No issues for me other than a few UI recommendations. Can't wait for the official release.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great video mixer/recorder/streaming device I used the Hub for the first time last September to mix, record and stream a 4 camera event that lasted 4 days from 9 am to 6 pm with a one hour break for lunch. The Hub never stopped working; even when the iPad interface froze one time, it kept recording and streaming. This device made me look really good with my clients!!! I have not stopped using it every time I can.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it so far I love my system, it’s great! I am however reluctant to trust it 100% with some of my high paying clients. I want to trust the system while-heartedly but until the common issues are ironed out that I keep seeing on forums and the official Facebook group page, I have to hold it at arms length. I would encourage the developers to focusing on making the core system fullproof before venturing in to better scoreboard interfaces and whatnot. Fullproof as in live broadcasts failing in mid show, connectivity and compatability issues, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity with a lot of power I have been using Slingstidio for three months and I have no complaints so far. It just works. Always. No problems (in my case). I use it with three ipod touch cameras and an ipad pro for the console, and everything works wonders. Using ipods I have saved a lot of money, because I did not have to invest in expensive cameras, because I use it for Facebook live, generally. The software is very good, although I hope they will expand their functions in new updates. He still has the basics, but necessary. I recommend it 99%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best option for small to medium size churches This product raises the production value of a small to medium size church by %100. If you want to have a multi angle, easy to run platform that does break the bank then sling studio is for you. Our church is a little over 300 members and we love the sling because it’s so easy to run and to teach people to run. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not perfect yet. I'm a really a fan of sling studio. I would love to see few improvements and additional features I believe everyone would appreciate. Auto switch between scenes. Integration with go pro via Wi-Fi. Have ability to play short video directly from sd card (like an intro video). Easy shareing for all social platforms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works This system is great for small events but come with limitations , there is room for improve. The 300ft range is one the problems I have, camera link last about two and half hour battery and need about four hrs to recharge, would be great if can change battery, is great product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from system sucks and support sucks I bought this a month ago and I had to return, for several reasons, 1- support not open on the weekends, ran in to an issue with a client on the weekend and no help from support, I lost the client for it. 2- to much of a close system for the price, to much work arounds just to get something done, 3- to many disconnects when live from the camlinks and network. 4- during the return process it took 3 weeks and many many calls to get my money back. I will definitely leave a review on youtube

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There is only ONE thing I would add. I have used the sling studio for multi-camera live YouTube streaming. I am pleased with its many features. I love that I have a separate audio mixer from the video switcher. I was impressed when an update came out for the SlingStudio which included the capability of adding segments of prerecorded video in addition to full screen graphics and lower thirds. I wish that there was the capability of viewing the chat streaming from viewers inside the app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NSME SPORTS CENTER REVIEW We love the product. However, we do wish the signal between the camera link and Slingstudio was more than 300 feet. We film sports and we find it difficult to setup where we want in high school stadiums. We hope also an integration to incorporate pre-recorded short videos is in the works. That would do wonders for our sponsors. However, thank you for making a great piece of tech. We love using it. Calvin L Davis Media Director NSME Sports Center

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost a perfect combination of the competition Sling Studio is almost the perfect product to handle all your live streaming needs. The product is well thought out, and future upgrades would crush the competition if they can incorporate what is already available from other competitors on the Sling Studio. Examples 1. Be able to control the remote cameras (iPod, iPhone, iPad) like zoom in zoom out which is available on Switcher Studio. 2. 3 or more HDMI in ports on the Base Station like the ones available on the Cerevo Livewedge which gives you 4 options to go wireless or hard wired for greater reliability - spent too much money to have to buy a switcher for my switcher to use hard wired cameras. 3. I shouldn't have to spend $300-$400 extra on a wireless adapter to show a PowerPoint from my PC which is right next to the Studio Base if I already have the Main Camera already plugged into the only HDMI port . 3. ChromaKey capability which is available on the Cerevo Livewedge or full motion overlays, Sling makes it easy to add clean professional overlays but motion overlays would be nice. 4. Separate the requirement that if the iPad goes down the livestream stops as well. This is not an issue with Livewedge, because the built in encoder can operate independent of the iPad in case of iPad failure during mid stream. What Sling studio does is combine the cleanest interface, and the best features of Mevo, Livewedge, Switcher Studio and Roland switchers into one product, which makes it almost perfect. The Livewedge is not as reliable as an encoder and Sling Studio outshines the competitors best feature in this one unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’ve been looking for this for years! After countless events and 3 very large, live stream productions, I am very blown away by this product. Also, I have gotten really used to the 2 second lag in order to help me choose the correct camera for any highlighted moments. So far for any product available at this moment, I feel that this is perfect for any single videographer who has no crew but if you do it’s a plus! Thank you I am very pleased with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, Simply Excellent Just started a podcast and wanted an affordable solution getting started to also video record the podcast in addition to audio. SlingStudio has made this incredibly easy. From an entry level production perspective, there is simply no alternative to having a wireless solution to seamlessly connect multiple devices and switch between each of the feeds without breaking the bank on high end production equipment. For content creators that have yet to build their production empire, this is really an amazing solution. It would be great to have added support for having more than 4 simultaneous feeds (I do understanding, however, that the limit may be to maintain video quality - maybe add a feature to connect multiple SlingStudios to a single control center on PC/Mac/Mobile App?). I would absolutely recommend this to anybody wanting an affordable solution for their production needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SlingStudio is a powerful tool Our church bought SlingStudio because we are renting a venue which cannot be wired to facilitate additional cameras. Sling allows us to put cameras (iPod touch and phones) anywhere we want and makes tear down so much easier. I handed off the system to two different people on two separate occasions; both only seen me demonstrate it once and they got it up and running with very little help.

I turn off the SS and start again the live transmition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fantastic start - with room to grow Simple, reliable, it just works - that's my impressive SlingStudio experience so far. Improvements I would welcome are more robust streaming connections (dealing with occasional brief connection hickups), more flexibility in the screen layouts (e.g. add PIP as a third source to a two-screen config), more HDMI hardware inputs and WIFI connection to GoPro cameras. The concept of SlingStudio is fantastic.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT WORKING I bought this a couple months ago. Watched a lot of tutorials and practiced at home. The VERY FIRST job I got to do a LIVE production. The SlingStudio LOST WIFI. All my investment is just sitting there!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SlingStudio Appreciaton I bought this at the end of the school year last year and have been using it for sports broadcasting this year. It is great. Previously I had streamed sports but it took 45 minutes - 1 hour to set up all the cables and equipment. My students can be ready to go in 15 minutes now. I truly appreciate this "set up" much more and the students are willing to stream more events.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Video clips and logos I only had limited time on it, but I experienced that I can't change the size of graphics, video clips that works on ipad (mp4) doesn't work with mac. Would be great to play videos or import files (graphics, audio) from Mac Live. I will play a bit more with it and check how it works. If those things can be sorted it will defiantly jump to excellent rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Sling Studio Story I brought Sling Studio a little over a month ago and I love it. I'm still learning but it's not that hard to figure most things out. I've been a one man operation and I can see where I need a pair of extra hands. I've been able to test the product with multiple cameras including an iPod, Cell phone, and camcorder. This product knocks it out the park!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way Easy to use! I still cannot believe the ease of use! The set up is so easy, I never even worry about if it is going to connect up each time its almost a given. I just have to make sure all my batteries are charged :) My 11-year-old was even able to help as the producer during one of my live events easily switching camera angles on the console app on the iPad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but could be better Love the tech in this thing. But it would be nice to have more capabilities. Like being able to use .mogrt files for custom graphics. And maybe better options for the built in graphics. But I would rather be able to bring in my own. But have not to little restriction on my file types. Other than that it is a pretty sound unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as promised, good and easy to use UX I'm very happy that I bought this for my production. It's very easy to use and packs the basic functionalities most use cases require. The only downside is that there is no configurable WiFi frequency selector which "prevents" it from being used outside USA. I plan to buy another Hub and more CameraLinks in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great values, the most bang for your bucks! I bought my Sling Studio 2 weeks ago and very happy with it. It can do miracle at a fraction of the cost. No more wasting time for running video cables in order to have a live-switching scenario. Or vice versa, no more hours (and many hours) of editing a bunch of individual videos. Thanks God, my prayer had been answered!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product and worse customer service! I bought this 10 days ago and the app continues to disconnect from the hub, hub from the app, etc. Support just refers me to support articles and isn’t helpful at all. Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great portable solution I bought this product a few months back, and have had a great time digging in on all of the features in it on productions I have done so far. The cameras connect very simple either by the CameraLink or the app on my Galaxy S6 active. The control app on ipad is very easy to navigate, get your project set up, and ready to record/stream. Everyone I have shown it to has been blown away by what such a portable system can produce. Would highly recommend it to anyone who either is tight on space or time for setting up their productions. Only things that I would like to see better would be adding chroma key ability, a more fine tuned picture in picture setting, video lower 3rds as a possibility, and some more control to the replay function other than just setting a time limit for it to jump back and it just goes to it. If those issues of mine were not there would have wholeheartedly given this system a 5/5 as its' build quality and value are certainly beyond compare.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I produce a web show called Engineering Deathmatch and until Sling I would record contestant computer screens and video cameras all separately. Which meant a lot of work after wrap up getting all of the footage. Sling Studio has made it so much easier to film my events and has enabled me to live stream them as well. It has definitely saved time and effort for this one man production crew. There are two reasons that I don’t give it that fifth star. Two things that keep me from saying that this product is perfection: 1. If it could record one more input simultaneously then it would be absolutely perfect for my needs. 2. Since it can’t record five inputs it would be great if all of the inputs that get swapped in would automatically have buffer space added so that it would be easier to have all of the time codes match. If the previous item were implemented then I wouldn’t need this. For those sources that don’t swap out, Sling Studio does a fantastic job of synchronizing timecodes and everything. Other than that I have absolutely not complaints about this awesome product. I used it in a very challenging environment (with regards to RF overhear) and it performed admirably. This has definitely made my workflow so much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Overall We bought this a few months ago for our church service broadcasting after performing extensive research and looking for some wireless capability, and thus far, it's been great addition and added lots of value for us. Many people are watching us now on Facebook Live and are very pleased with the quality of the video and sound. Overall, things look very professional with the logo and graphics. Thank you for a great product. ____ We do have a few areas of improvements though; one of which is it was difficult to import graphics, and we are still having issues importing other graphics with constant unknown errors. Also it would be nice to have the ability to sort the graphics in a particular order unrelated to size or date. Issue with the recent update is the disappearing graphics when switching camera via double click. Other issues are the lack of support for right-to-left writing within the overlays. I have to constantly copy from outside the software and paste within. Other wish list would be to have the ability to save the destination and all other settings within the project rather than having to repeat the same process every time we start a broadcast, which consumes time and gets annoying week over week, especially that we have the same repetitive process. It would be nice when the project is opened if the graphics would remain called out in the same spots as they were when the last project was closed. Currently, they have to be re-selected when the project is opened. Also, since we broadcast to a Facebook profile, the option to change the audience level to Public is unavailable within the software for some reason even though the Facebook profile settings are set to go public for all future posts. We always have to go to Facebook to change the privacy of the post to Public after we go live, which consumes time. A couple of minutes are usually wasted every time we start a project with the aforementioned limitations. If the above would be saved so one can just start the project and GO LIVE immediately, it would be a big plus. Maybe allow an area for the title to be changed only. It would also be great if we can one day broadcast to both Facebook and YouTube at the same time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Documentation is confusing even to support... First and foremost this is currently a unique solution in the market which it’s differentiator being the wireless streaming of video across multiple sources, a dead simple iPad app to manage it and then a basic internet streaming solution over the standard H264 shell. The problem came when I asked can I hard wire an HDMI direct to sling studio HUB and have two wireless 1080-60p/i feeds going for a 3 cam setup at 1080 60p/i (the linensirect into the hub is always 1080i .. while the wireless feeds are 1080p) Support said yes! I bought it and the answer is NO it does not. You can ONLY have two wireless 1080p 60fps going at a time... Sling studio should be partnering with a big boy streaming solution that does a single H265 stream to a server farm in the cloud that then transcoades that and sends it out simulcast to all the destinations at once. This reduces overall bandwidth needs, jr picks up depending on the partner anpropirtry transfer and quality protocol truly engineered for video streaming over the intenernet. Right now I take the HDMI and simply feed it to another streaming device because the current streaming solution is weak in comparison. Bonding connections Wi-Fi/Ethernet/usb cell modems would be another key element to look at from a hardware/software offering. This produce has so much potential but the company needs to decide which battles to keep fighting and innovating on and which ones to partner with and let someone else’s barrier to entry stop being a huddle they fall short on. Overall I’m super pleased with this solution, my feedback is looking to the future mainly and how they continue to be successful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Video Switcher With Room For Improvement I initially purchase this link studio as an option to switch multiple cameras during our high school football game productions. One way that we offset the cost of this type of equipment is advertising. Sling studio does a great job of switching between multiple inputs, but one of the places I learned at the last minute was lacking is the ability to switch between a catalog of video files. Sling studio currently only allows up to four inputs at one time and that is usually filled by the live camera inputs. If you want to add a 30 second video commercial, you have to remove a Camera input and place the video in that spot before it can be aired. In a live environment this takes too much time. I had to resort to using a laptop with a Xsplit Broadcaster to show my video commercials while only using sling studio as a video switcher. I feed the program output of SlingStudio to a capture card on Xplit and use it to broadcast my program. Perhaps there can be a software upgrade that will allow me to easily play one of the 16 commercials I air during a broadcast. Another item that needs improvement is the score bug. Great option to add live scores on the screen but really need more options in terms of sport specific scoreboards. American football options that include timeouts and other softball-specific indicators would be ideal. And lastly, there currently is no way to tweak the camera feeds that are fed into SlingStudio. Sometimes I will get a camera feed that needs to be brightened or needs simple color correction. Even the ability to crop the feed is not allowed. One example would be for me to take a camera feed from the scoreboard and crop the time lock, downs, or other stats and pin them to the respective locations on the scoreboard. If I was able to do that I could forget about keeping up with the scoreboard and focus on my production. Many production alternatives have the ability to either OCR read the scoreboard and translate that to the on-screen graphics or have direct integration with Daktronics scoreboards. When traveling to other stadiums plugging into the opponents scoreboard is usually not an option so OCR or clipping screen sections of the scoreboard is more ideal. Overall great product but lacking a few key things to truly create an all-in-one studio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Needs Updates Pros: • It's the most simplistic live streaming software and set up I've ever used. Well worth the price. Cons: • Graphics don't fade when the fade button is selected. Only the video fades. This needs to be fixed because graphics just POP UP and it looks really terrible. • Every time I stream to Youtube Live, I create a new project, select the Youtube event that I created, seleect a lower enough bitrate even with Ethernet connection, and yet, when I click to go "LIVE", it freezes, and says "Slate Change Occred. Failed to live stream" So I have to go back into the project settings, select the live stream again, click "Set Destination" and it fails again... It only works upon the 3rd time of trying to connect to Youtube. and this happens EVERYTIME. We have a large audience tuning in to our live stream, and when I tell them we're going live at 12:00pm, it turns into 12:07 after all the connection problems occur. It's very aggravating. • We also need details on how much the HUB can actually story inside of it's library. I have multiple PNG's a couple small intro and outro videos, but how much can it hold? I don't want it crashing during a stream without knowing what it can handle! • With the "Fade To Black Button", it shouldn't just automatically fade when you select it as a transition. You should select it, then it should pop up a black slate, and then you should be able to decide when to fade into black. I accidentally selected it during a live stream thinking it would just select that transition as my fade, but then it just faded instead of giving me the option to click the transition button. Please fix this. • Also, when writing to an SD card and editing in FCPX, often times during random cuts, a few frames will get dropped leaving black frames behind. Sometimes, during a transition in the main broadcast, a blip in the audio will occur also. • Lastly, you should include other HDMI cables with the camera links. The ones I received did not work for my cameras so I had to order different ones hoping that they would work. It would be really great to have a facebook or youtube comments option for their comments to pop up on screen if we decided to highlight it. Other streaming apps do this same thing. Not sure if it's possible though. I know you guys are a new company. I am VERY satisfied with this product for the amount we paid. I would just like to see little improvements. Thanks so much.
