I can’t get SlingStudio to recognize my USB device. What can I do?

Here are a few requirements for USB devices used for recording SlingStudio projects.

If you're not able to get your SlingStudio unit to recognize a USB device, try these things:

  • While SlingStudio recognizes USB 2.0 devices, for recording you should use a USB 3.0 device with write speeds greater than 40 Mbytes/sec.
  • Try connecting the USB device to a PC or a Mac computer to see if it is recognized.
  • If you are using a SlingStudio USB-C Expander, and you have more than one USB device connected to it, try disconnecting all but the USB device that you're trying to connect. If it works, then try adding the other USB devices back to try to isolate the problem.
  • As a last resort, try formatting the device on your PC/Mac and connecting again to see if this works.
