Technical specifications for the SlingStudio system



VIDEO AND AUDIO INPUT/OUTPUT

Video input options

  • You can connect video sources to the SlingStudio hub using:
    • Wi-Fi—Connect wirelessly via compatible Apple or Android smartphones that are running the free SlingStudio Capture app.
    • CameraLink—You can also connect wirelessly using a SlingStudio CameraLink device (sold separately) connected to an HDMI camera.
    • HDMI cable—Connect easily and securely with a cable connected between your HDMI camera and the SlingStudio hub HDMI-In port.
  • Resolutions: 1080p30, 720p60, 720p30 ... or 1080p60
    • The free SlingStudio Console software allows you to monitor, record, and switch up to four (4) video sources simultaneously in 1080p30, 720p60 and 720p30 resolutions.
    • Or you can use SlingStudio Console software to actively monitor, record, and switch up to up to two (2) sources in 1080p60.
  • "Standby" video sources:
    • Additional video sources can be connected to the SlingStudio hub on a standby basis. You can easily swap the standby video sources with the active sources listed above. You can connect a total of ten (10) active and standby video sources to the SlingStudio unit.
  • Compatible Wi-Fi: To connect the SlingStudio hub wirelessly to an Internet hotspot, a router providing an 802.11ac Wi-Fi signal is preferred.

3.5 mm input port for line-level 2-channel (stereo) unbalanced input, 48 KHz, 16-bit (mic-level input requires external pre-amp or mixer)


A/V sources supported

  • Up to 4 sources in 1080p30, 720p60, or 720p30 modes.
    Possible examples of combinations supported:
    • 3 smartphones running the free SlingStudio Capture app, 1 video source connected via cable to the SlingStudio hub's HDMI-IN port
    • 3 cameras/camcorders connected to SlingStudio CameraLink devices (one CameraLink required per camera), 1 video source connected via cable to SlingStudio unit's HDMI-IN port
    • 4 cameras/camcorders connected to SlingStudio CameraLink devices (one CameraLink required per camera)
    • 4 smartphones, each running the free SlingStudio Capture app

... and so on.

  • Up to 2 sources in 1080p60 mode. Example of combinations supported:
    • 2 cameras/camcorders connected to SlingStudio CameraLink devices (one CameraLink required per camera)
    • 2 smartphones, each running the free SlingStudio Capture app
    • 1 camera/camcorder connected to a SlingStudio CameraLink, 1 smartphone running the free SlingStudio Capture app

The free SlingStudio Console app displays a maximum of 4 video sources. Beyond that, an additional 6 video sources can be connected to the SlingStudio unit (either wirelessly or via HDMI cable) and held in the background, ready to be "swapped out" for one of the 4 available video sources as needed.

MULTI-CAMERA MONITORING

Up to 4 video sources

Simultaneous monitoring of up to 4 video sources via an Apple iPad or Apple Mac computer (using the free SlingStudio Console app)

Recording formats

Video (MP4):

  • H.264 High Profile 4:2:0
  • 1080p60 up to 30 Mbps
  • 1080p30 up to 16 Mbps
  • 720p60 up to 16 Mbps
  • 720p30 up to 4 Mbps

Audio (AAC-LC):

  • 2-channel (stereo) 48 KHz, 16-bit, up to 320 Kbps

Multi-stream recording

Up to 7 simultaneous recordings can be maintained:

  • 4 video inputs;
  • 1 composite quad view of 4 inputs;
  • 1 program/output stream;
  • 1 line-in audio stream.

All video/audio files are recorded in the MP4 video file format.
Line-in audio files are recorded in the M4A audio file format.


Recording media types

  • SD cards (select UHS Speed Class U3 and above)—via the SlingStudio hub's built-in SD card slot
  • USB 3.0 hard drives, flash drives (select USB 3.0 drives)—via the USB-C port available with the optional SlingStudio USB-C Expander product, sold separately

Playback

Playback of all recordings available via the SlingStudio Console app

4K / HQ proxy (time synching)

  • Import and time-align recordings directly to Adobe Premiere Pro CC, and Apple Final Cut Pro X.
  • Create a new program recording in 4K, in higher bit rates, or with higher quality video codecs, with all edits, effects and transitions preserved in the higher-quality program recording.


Record / stream

Live Broadcasting

Simultaneous recording and live broadcasting of program output. Maximum program bit rate supported for live broadcasting: 8 Mbps. Input source bit rates can be up to 30 Mbps.

Production switcher

Switcher

Connect up to 10 video sources and monitor up to 4 video sources using the SlingStudio Console app running on an Apple iPad or Apple Mac computer.
The SlingStudio Console app is a free download from the Apple App Store.

Import
