I forgot the password for my SlingStudio Wi-Fi hotspot. What do I do?

If you forgot the password for your SlingStudio hotspot, all is not lost! Read on ...

If you've forgotten the password to your SlingStudio device, you can reset it easily. But you do need to have physical access to the SlingStudio device itself. For security reasons, you can't do it remotely.

To reset the SlingStudio device password:

  1. Power up the SlingStudio device. Wait until the blue LED band glows steadily.
  2. Using a straightened paperclip inserted into the Reset hole (just above the USB-C input) press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds, then release it. As you're doing this, the blue LED band blinks. Release the Reset button when it changes from blinking blue to blinking orange.
  3. Go to the Console app on your iPad.
  4. Switch the iPad Wi-Fi to the SlingStudio device's Wi-Fi hotspot. Notice that the hotspot name has temporarily reverted to its factory-reset name, for example: SlingStudio_34_4B_26. Note: If you have previously changed the SlingStudio device's SSID to a custom name, that name is retained only if you choose the No, Just Restart my SlingStudio Normally option. If you change your SlingStudio Wi-Fi password, then you also need to re-specify the SSID (or leave it as the default, SlingStudio_XX_XX_XX).
After you select the SlingStudio hotspot, the SlingStudio – Reset Mode screen appears on your iPad.
  5. Under Password, tap Set password, then set a password of your choosing.
  6. You can also change the SSID (the hotspot name that's broadcast) as well.
  7. Tap Save Changes when you're done.
  8. When the Restart Your SlingStudio screen appears, tap Restart SlingStudio.
  9. Remember to wait for the SlingStudio device to finish restarting and resume broadcasting the Wi-Fi hotspot. Once the blue LED band is glowing steadily, you can then reconnect to your SlingStudio Wi-Fi hotspot.
