Where (and how) is my SlingStudio video content stored?

SlingStudio offers you a couple of options for video storage.

SlingStudio video content, from all video sources, is consolidated on a single storage device.

You can record video content on:

  • An SD card inserted in the SlingStudio unit
  • A USB drive connected to SlingStudio using the USB-C Expander

SlingStudio saves your video recordings as MP4 files (H.264 video and AAC audio).

The article linked below lists compatible SD cards and USB drives that you can use with SlingStudio.

Note that it is not necessary to have an SD card inserted into your SlingStudio unit (or a hard disk attached) to stream live video. You can stream uninterrupted even when storage media is removed, becomes full, or experiences an error.

You only need storage media present if you're working with a project that requires actual storage.
